Explore the Bohlool library

Knowledge, dialogue, understanding, coexistence — Bohlool brings books, religious traditions, biographies, sacred places and historical records into one place. This guide helps you choose a starting point, follow connections between subjects and use the reading tools without losing the context of a source.

Find a subject and open its page

Start with a book title, the name of a person, a religious tradition or a place. Search checks the title, the name in its original writing and the summary of each published entry. Suggestions appear while you type; choose a result to open its dedicated page, or press Enter to see the results page. The original name beside a title can help you distinguish different spellings and editions. If a search is too broad, try a more specific name and then browse the relevant category. An empty category means that material has not yet been published there.

Find a subject and open its page

Read books with their context

The library section is designed for book records and reading resources. Where the information has been supplied, an entry identifies its author, translator, publisher, publication year, edition, language and page count. The summary offers a starting point before you read the full description. A cover image helps identify the work, while an available download link opens the associated file. A connection to a biography or a religious tradition provides further context. Availability depends on the individual record: a description of a book does not necessarily mean that its full text can be downloaded.

Read books with their context

Understand religions and traditions

Entries about religions and denominations bring together their historical origins, central figures, beliefs, practices and places of worship. Read the account as an introduction, and consider the sources and any differences in interpretation described in the entry. Traditions can change across periods, regions and communities, so a shared name should not be taken to mean that every follower holds an identical view. Related accounts of rituals, events and documents offer other ways to explore the same subject. The aim of this library is understanding and informed dialogue, with room for respectful disagreement.

Understand religions and traditions

Connect people, places and records

Biographies can introduce the lives, work and historical setting of influential people. Sacred places have their own histories, architecture and relationships with religious communities. Links between entries help you move from an individual to a work, from a tradition to a place, or from an event to associated material. When a relationship has been approved and published, relevant entries appear on the reading page. Related media can appear after the text. These connections are an aid to exploration; read each linked entry and its evidence before drawing conclusions about a historical relationship.

Connect people, places and records

Browse across history and languages

The historical browser uses the numeric years supplied in published records. Negative years represent dates before the Christian era, and positive years represent dates after it. Its range begins and ends with the years actually present in the collection; choose a year and a content type to narrow the results. A year with no matching record does not imply that no historical event occurred then. The language selector changes the interface and the language in the URL. Article translations depend on the versions available for that record, and unfamiliar names may remain in their original writing.

You can read public pages without an account. Sign in to save or follow an entry, like a post or like an approved comment. Your account provides separate areas for profile settings, password changes, saved and followed reading, comments and private correspondence with the administrator. A submitted comment can be visible to its author while awaiting review, together with its status; public publication follows moderation.
