Gaudiya Vaishnavism is a branch of Vaishnavism that developed in 16th-century Bengal around Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. The title Gaudiya refers to its regional origin, and Chaitanya's disciples, especially the Gosvamis of Vrindavan, played a role in the formulation of its teachings and works.
Bhakti to Krishna, communal chanting of divine names, and study of Vaishnavism texts are important manifestations of this tradition. Contemporary organizations and movements, including some transnational movements, have drawn inspiration from this legacy, but no modern organization represents all Gaudiya communities.
